The Queensland Military Historical Society Management Committee is a volunteer committee responsible for achieving the aim of the Society, which is to promote and enhance community understanding of Queensland’s military history from 1824 to the present.

Major Kate Drews (retired)President
Kate joined the committee in 2018 and has been President since 2020. She is a graduate of both the Australian Defence Force Academy and the Royal Military College Duntroon. She served in the Corps of Royal Australian Engineers during her military service. Kate is currently a senior executive and board member for a number of organisations. She is passionate about preserving the Society’s historical collection, sharing our military history and representing the views of current and former servicewomen.
James SchmidliTreasurer
James is a new QMHS member and was voted into the role of Treasurer in 2022. He is MBA qualified and has recently became Certified Global Management Accountant (CGMA) and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). In 2021, he completed the Company Directors Course at the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Sharyn BrownSecretary
Sharyn has served on the Committee as Administration Manager since 2019. She is experienced in all aspects of the role of Secretary and has been assisting the outgoing member with tasks as required.
Brian RoughGeneral Committee Member
Brian is a long-time member of the Society. He was elected to the committee in 2017. Brian is an historian and writer and has published numerous articles on Queensland military history.
Malcolm Catchpole General Committee Member
Malcolm has been a member since 2009. He works in the Defence and Security sector. He was elected to committee in 2018, and appointed Curator of Regulated Items. He has been intimately involved in the relocation of the collection.
Associate Professor Geoff Ginn General Committee Member
Geoff is a historian at the University of Queensland, where he is also History Convenor. He is an active public historian, a member of the RHSQ and board member at the Queensland Museum. He has published on Queensland defence history, and has been a Committee member since 2019.
David SwiftGeneral Committee Member
David is the Queensland State Director of the National Archives of Australia. He has served on the committee since 2017. David brings a range of professional skills and is keen to increase the accessibility of the collection.
